Alliance Motors Ghana Limited, the exclusive distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in Ghana has unveiled the Land Rover New Defender 2020 model unto the market with a promise of peerless luxury and safety.
Revealing the car at its ultra-modern showroom in Accra, the General Manager of Alliance Motors, Mr Richard Ankomah said the New Defender 110 was designed on the back of 70 years of innovation and technology by Land Rover which have stood the test of time.
"In its development phases, the new Defender has seen temperatures of minus 40 degrees to plus 50 degrees and assisted with conservation and red cross activities in Kenya Botswana, Dubai and Kazakhstan.
"In other words, the new Defender is ready for the Ghanaian customer to use in daily drives and for any adventure. Wherever you want to go in the length and breadth of this country, the new Defender will take you there".
He also urged government, individuals and humanitarian agencies to purchase the vehicle which has proven to be durable in the harshest environments across the world.
Addressing the press moments before the vehicle was unveiled by Peace FM broadcaster Kwame Sefa-Kayi, the Sales Manager of Alliance Motors, Mr Peter Boateng said the Defender 110 which is on sale at $90,000 (excluding taxes) offers a choice of five, six or seven (5+2) seating configurations and a loadspace ranging from 1,075 litres behind the second row, to 2,380 litres with seats folded.
He said not only is the new version driven by a passion and respect for the original, it also includes a flagship 3.0-litre straight six-cylinder P400 featuring efficient Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology with outputs of 294kW and 550Nm.
He said: "New Defender is as technologically advanced as it is durable. It introduces Jaguar Land Rover’s next generation Pivi Pro infotainment system with a more intuitive and user-friendly touchscreen, requiring fewer inputs to perform frequently used tasks. Its always-on design guarantees almost instant responses".
The vehicle also comes equipped with an emergency break system, a collision mitigation system, a lane departure assistant and a blind spot monitor.
